Wild Flag is the bicoastal project of Portland, Oregon indie rock luminaries Carrie Brownstein, Janet Weiss, and Rebecca Cole, and Washington, D.C.’s Mary Timony. Their eponymous debut album was released in 2011. Women haven’t rocked out like this since the ‘90s heyday of the members’ previous bands, and nearly every track is filled with ovaries-to-the wall guitar work as well as formidable drumming.
