Widespread Panic was formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1986, and is influenced by the Southern rock, blues rock, progressive rock, funk and hard rock genres. The band recorded its debut single, "Coconut Image," in 1986, and released their energetic debut LP, Space Wrangler, in 1988. In 1991, they released their major label debut, Widespread Panic (a.k.a. Mom's Kitchen). Widespread Panic are carving a niche for themelves in the rock arena that separates them from the crowd. Subtle, intelligent rock that blends numerous elements into a smooth, propulsive blend of structure and improvisation, rock with energy, talent and brains.
