The Unforgettable Fire is the fourth studio album by U2, released on October 1, 1984. The album's title is a reference to "The Unforgettable Fire", an art exhibit about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. "Pride (In the Name of Love)", a bombastic tribute to the assassination of Martin Luther King, gave the band greatly increased visibility in the United States. 'Bad', a story of heroin addiction and the damage caused by it, somehow doesn't seem quite right in its' studio format, but worked absolutely superbly when played, tweaked and extended in a live setting, it was the very moment U2 became the biggest band in the world at Live Aid in 1985.
