Irish rock band The Saw Doctors was formed in 1986 in Tuam, County Galway. The hook-laden sounds of 1960s rock and the working-class imagery are combined with the musical traditions of Ireland and the intensity of punk rock by the Saw Doctors. Officially taking their place among the best Irish musicians when they were presented the Lifetime Achievement Award at Ireland’s Meteor Music Awards in 2008, The Saw Doctors remain one of the country’s most popular live acts.
