The Bangles are an American all-female pop rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1981. The band recorded several singles that reached the U.S. top 10 during the 1980s, including "Manic Monday", "Walk Like an Egyptian", "Hazy Shade of Winter", "In Your Room", and "Eternal Flame". The band's classic lineup consisted of founding members Susanna Hoffs, Debbi Peterson, Vicki Peterson, and Michael Steele. The Bangles combined the chiming riffs and catchy melodies of British Invasion guitar pop with a hint of the energy of new wave. In the process, they became one of the handful of all-female bands of the '80s to win both critical and commercial success.
