Soundgarden formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and rhythm guitarist Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Soundgarden achieved its biggest success with the 1994 album Superunknown, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and yielded the Grammy Award-winning singles "Spoonman" and "Black Hole Sun". Soundgarden popularized metal within alternative rock, even obliterated the line separating the two subcultures. King Animal is the 6th and final studio album by Soundgarden, released on November 13, 2012.
