Electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark were formed in Wirral, England in 1978. They are one of the earliest, most commercially successful, and enduring synth pop groups. OMD achieved popularity throughout Europe with the 1980 anti-war song "Enola Gay", and gained further recognition via Architecture & Morality in 1981.
