Formed in 1987 as a ska band, the lineup of No Doubt initially comprised John Spence, Gwen Stefani, and her brother Eric. Tragic Kingdom is the 3rd studio album by No Doubt, released in 1995. Between 1995 and 1998, 7 singles were released from it, including "Just a Girl", and "Don't Speak", which reached the top 5 of many international charts. No Doubt was nominated for 2 Grammy Awards in 1997. By the end of the year, half of the songs on Tragic Kingdom had been released as singles, and the album was certified 8 times platinum. The commercial success of Tragic Kingdom prompted record labels to sign ska bands, and more independent labels released ska records and compilations.
