100% Cotton T-Shirt

The greatest white female rock singer of the 1960s, Janis Joplin was also a great blues singer, making her material her own with her wailing, raspy, supercharged emotional delivery. In 1967, Joplin rose to fame following an appearance at Monterey Pop Festival, where she was the lead singer of the San Francisco psychedelic rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. She also did much to redefine the role of women in rock with her assertive, sexually forthright persona and raunchy, electrifying on-stage presence. Her most popular songs include her cover versions of "Me and Bobby McGee", "Piece of My Heart", "Cry Baby", "Down on Me", "Ball and Chain", and "Summertime"; and her original song "Mercedes Benz", her final recording. Janis Joplin was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
