Post-rock band Gastr del Sol was formed in Chicago in 1991 and was the most prominent vehicle of indie rock stalwart David Grubbs. Their style has been described as post-rock, experimental rock, math rock, avant-folk, and drone music. The Serpentine Similar is the debut studio album by Gastr del Sol, released in 1993.
