Flogging Molly are an interesting mix of traditional Irish music and spunky punk rock. Dublin native Dave King formed the band in Los Angeles in 1997. Lyrics typically touch on subjects such as Ireland and its history, drinking, poverty, politics, love, and death and include several references to the Catholic Church. Getting their start playing regularly at the L.A. bar Molly Malones, Flogging Molly eventually took their music to the road; their explosive and passionate live show was the heart of the band, after all, and they toured relentlessly around the world throughout their career.
